Mr. House sign

Sebastian made this to hang on our door when we go out as a family, swimming for instance. Mr. House and Little Mrs. House are our two pet snails. Check out the drawing:

puppet shows

Last week, the boys made their own puppets and put on shows.

Here they are:

blue chair diaries

Something new we are going to try: everyone sits in the blue chair and says whatever. (We'll get better at the technical side of it.)

It's been a while since we've posted, so here's a special treat.

about a statue

So a few weeks ago we spent two days in Tampere. We were hanging around the city center and saw this statue, and I asked the boys about it.

Gifts for mommy

Mothers Day and mommy's birthday are the same day this year. The boys made some pins.

The process involves putting little plastic beads on pegs and then melting them together with an iron. The boys designed them by themselves.

The finished products: Sebastian, Edward, Daniel. (Do the designs say something about their personalities?)

Sing it, Edward

Edward found a stick in the ground and used it as a microphone.

The King's Bad Knights

So one day, Sebastian is very excited about putting on a play, talking about it all the way home from school. He designed some scenery (above) and got his hats together. Daniel was enlisted as the MC/narrator and also contributed some scenery. Edward was banished to the kitchen, and you can hear his protests very clearly.

The story itself is, um, ambiguous. It involves a king, a knight and a magician, and they visit two castles for various reasons. The magician creates some wind by blowing, and the king finds the lack of clouds very surprising. I think. It was a bit improvisational.

I've edited it down from a much, much longer production, but the story was no clearer in that version. (Someday, Sebastian will probably release a Director's Cut.) What I preserved here were the highlights of the performances.

Enjoy.

learning to play

While visiting mummi and ukki, D & S started experimenting with a toy xylophone, and with some help mastered a song or two. Daniel started to transfer his skills to the piano.

If you give a five year-old a camera...

We went to Senate Square on a Saturday morning with our old digital camera, giving the boys the chance to experiment with photography. Here are the results, with some comments by the photographer.

D: 'There's so many of those things.'

S: 'I took the picture so mommy will like it.'

Daddy: 'Was it hard to take a picture of it when it was moving?'
D: 'No. I just pressed the button.'

D: 'An S for Sebastian, and it was in a bus stop.'

D: 'I like this. Somebody dropped a glove and it's lost.'

D: 'Sebastian is waving at the top.'

S: 'Edward is high on the stairs.'

D: 'This is funny because he was running.'

D: 'A nice statue.'

D: 'I took this picture because mommy would love it.'

D: 'That's funny because Sebastian slipped there.'

S: 'Daniel looks handsome.'

S: 'It's fancy.'

E: 'That's daddy there!'
